White Threads

crazy hair

I’m sorry for my silence yesterday. I have been busy this week getting ready for a Mountmellick class in the Hunter Valley next week. Its nearly all done, which is great, so that I can post it all off to them today so that it is all there for me when I arrive next week.

[…]

Rainbow still going

I spent yesterday still working on the rainbow dress. I’m not really sure why it took so long, but I think it was to do with the fact that I had to nut out how to attach the lining at the neck and armholes. If I’d just sewn them with right sides together, I wouldn’t […]

rainbow sewing

With a young girl’s birthday and the school holidays inching ever closer, it has been time to get the rainbow dress made. I won’t be able to do any work on it during the school holidays as it is to be a surprise, so it needs to be completed before the holidays arrive.

Yesterday I […]

Cosmo seasons threads

I’ve been doing some work on my new little Cosmo bookmark kits. I called the distributor of the thread and unfortunately they said they don’t have a colour card. They emailed me a file which has a basically useless chart showing little photographic “swatches” of colour stripes that you’re supposed to choose colours from.

I […]

cosmo fobs

After I came back from Brisbane I said that I was waiting for the chance to play with the Cosmo Seasons threads that I bought from All Threads Embroidery. Well, I finally got the chance to do this on the weekend. Lately because I have been working so hard during the week I have been […]

Mountmellick solace

This is the Mountmellick doily I’ve been working on over the last few days. It was a lovely project to work and really helped my emotional wellbeing. If you didn’t read the comments from yesterday’s post, please do take a look at Lakaribane’s blog post, about her experience of healing from sewing following the devastating […]

book hiatus

I’m taking the week off writing my book this week, to get other work done. I spent the weekend making clothing. I made a pair of pants for myself (fabric bought way back on my trip to Remnant Warehouse). The fabric cost me less than $10, and so after I put it away, waiting for […]

For the knitters amongst us

A little bit of fun today, seeing I’ve been so busy working on my book lately.

Fiona Goble has created some very inspired mementos of the upcoming royal wedding. Make your own knitted set of characters, and act it out in the comfort of your own home. Or enjoy the spectacle that has already been […]

the pleasure of making

Recently, as you may have noticed, I’ve been enjoying making clothes. I’ve been enjoying planning and shopping for fabrics for those clothes. I’ve been enjoying designing and creating new embroideries for my new Portuguese whitework book and upcoming classes. I’ve been enjoying making food that fits with my own and others’ dietary/allergy requirements.

Now, if […]
