Tina’s finished silk sampler

A couple of weeks after Tina showed me (and all of us) her progress on the Frisian Whitework Silk Sampler, she has now completed it and it is magnificent!

Here’s what Tina had to say about it:

I am sitting here looking at this finished piece and I am more than thrilled with how […]

Tina’s silk sampler progress

“I wanted to share my progress! This is about five days of progress. Tina”

Last year, Tina signed up for my “Frisian Whitework silk sampler self-paced video online course”. She has started work on the project and is doing so well! Her stitching is absolutely beautiful. Well done, Tina!

If you’d like to do this […]

Online classes aren’t a high priority for me

Because of the way the pandemic changed our lives, we all realised that maybe we didn’t all need to be in the one place at the one time to meet. And so, since then, the increase in requests for online classes has been huge. For you, it often boils down to $$$. You don’t […]

Maybe you feel like this too?

When my classes didn’t run at the World Needlework Convention last year, I was absolutely humiliated that so many other classes did (some even sold out) yet mine didn’t.

I felt honoured that I/my classes were chosen to be in the program as I don’t feel like I have the credentials. I wasn’t […]

Glimpses of new class proposals

Glimpses of new class proposals…

Created for events way off in the future. Of course there are selection processes they must progress through.

Which class would you like to do?

Jardin de Fleurs samplers restocked

Some years ago, I was asked to teach an embroidery stitch sampler class. I didn’t want to design your stock-standard sampler, so this is what I created: the Jardin de Fleurs cushions. There are about 30 different stitches on this design, and extensive step-by-step instructions for all of them are included with the pattern.

[…]

My formal qualifications

studying historical needlework samples

For some people, qualifications are very important. So as a needlework teacher and author of needlework books, what are my formal qualifications?

My training is in design. I have a Bachelor of Design in Visual Communication, and it helped me learn to think, problem solve and therefore be creative. […]

needle problems

Last year in New Zealand, I taught some Mountmellick embroidery classes. Mountmellick thread is very different to other threads: it is thick, has a number of strands though is non-divisible, and is completely matte. For those who are used to stitching with, say, a single strand of cotton floss, it is a very different […]
