This is the Mountmellick doily I’ve been working on over the last few days. It was a lovely project to work and really helped my emotional wellbeing. If you didn’t read the comments from yesterday’s post, please do take a look at Lakaribane’s blog post, about her experience of healing from sewing following the devastating earthquake in Haiti just over a year ago. The english version is the second half of the blog post.
I’ll be teaching this doily and all the stitches required for it at Maitland later this year, and maybe at one or two other groups as well.
As soon as I’ve had the chance to write up the instructions, I’ll release it for general sale also.
White Threads is the blog of Yvette Stanton, the author, designer, publisher behind Vetty Creations' quality needlework books and embroidery products.

Yvette, a beautiful Mountmellick design. I am sure the ladies in Maitland will enjoy embroidering this very much and are looking forward to their class.
I have found embroidery to be the most wonderful comfort during some of the most stressful and sad times of my life.
I agree that it should also be regarded as a form of meditation. I know that for me, my special quite time is with my embroidery. To be able to create something that is beautiful and that gives you solace, is a wonderful thing.
It’s delightful, Yvette. I do envy your students!
It’s gorgeous Yvette – can’t wait for the pattern to be released. We are so lucky to have you in our lives.
Best regards, Eunice
