White Threads

I’m back from Adelaide and exhausted!

I flew in from Adelaide this afternoon, very tired, but having had a wonderful week. I was teaching at Beating Around the Bush, Country Bumpkin’s needlework conference in Adelaide, Australia.

The first day, I taught a single day class on merezhka, and two in the class actually got theirs finished. The second two days were a Mountmellick class, which was quite a full group of 18. I was a little daunted with such a large class, but it went very well, and the students produced some excellent results. We seemed to have statistically more perfectionists than one would normally find in the one class! The last two teaching days were Hardanger with a sheer fabric overlay. This is a very difficult technique, and all the students did admirably well, with 2 of them finishing the embroidery in class.

I was so impressed with the calibre and expertise of my students (and that’s not anything to do with me, but everything to do with their skill). They really were great, and it was a pleasure to spend those days with them, teaching them.

In the next few days I need to add a few things to my website. I plan to put “The Left-Handed Embroiderer’s Companion” up ready for you to pre-order. It should ship from me in January 2010. You can also support your local needlework store by asking them to get it in for you in January. I will also be putting on the little booklights which were a HUGE hit at the mini market day at Beating Around the Bush. I’m sure there are some other things too, but right now I’m so tired that I can’t think straight. I bet there’s mistakes scattered all through this post!

Must go and rest my weary mind and body. Its so good to be home!
