Hardanger Filling Stitches – diamond filling

Diamond filling

Diamond filling was a new (to me) stitch that I learned while writing my forthcoming book, Hardanger Filling Stitches. It is not a well-known stitch, but I think it is really lovely.

It isn’t difficult to stitch, though there are quite a few steps to follow. I find that this is a stitch where you need to follow the instructions quite a few times in order to get it to sink in. (If you need to follow the instructions *always*, don’t worry either. There is no reason why you need to keep it all in your head! I refer to my books all the time, and I wrote them!)

Is this a stitch you’re familiar with?

Hardanger Filling Stitches by Yvette Stanton, will be arriving in Australia in December 2023, New Zealand shortly after that, UK in February 2024, and the US in March. You can order it from your favourite needlework store, worldwide. If they don’t know where to get it from, you can ask them to contact me, and I will direct them accordingly.

Vetty Creations have supplies packs for the Hardanger Filling Stitch sampler featured in the book.

Referring to the book all the time – oh definitely, at least until I’ve worked a stitch for an hour straight! And even then I have to look them up again the next time..
