birdcage hair

Ok, ok, I know you’ve all been dying to hear… I am pleased to report that Rainbow Girl did indeed win a prize at Thursday’s crazy hair day. This year’s creation was a birdcage – my husband’s brilliant idea. There was very stiff competition amongst the other students, so we were not at all sure that she would win, but once again one of the awarding teachers made a beeline for her to give her a chocolate rabbit!

Apparently it was an extremely comfortable to wear creation, as she happily kept it in for the whole day, even going up to the shops with it in place. She said she was looking forward to people looking at her. She’s such a shy little thing… 🙂

Congratulations to Rainbow Girl and her very creative parents. It should be chocolate rabbits for all.
I hope you have a peaceful, safe and enjoyable Easter with your family Yvette.

Holy crow! Well, you didn’t disappoint, Yvette! I am amazed that she was able to wear it all day. Kudos to your husband, too. It’s a great idea and the silly bird is the final touch. Love it. 😀

Oh, how I wish my school had thought of something similar – it could have been such fun!

Wow! That is pretty freakin’ awesome Yvette! And comfortable too! Makes me think of those fancy Regency era (or a bit after?) hairdos you see on all the literary adaptations.

How did you do this? Any steps to follow that would make it easy to recreate? It looks great and would love to do it for a crazy hair day!

Manda, all our crazy hair creations are done on wire frameworks. We make them out of coat hanger type wire, on an oval-shaped base which sits on the head. The base gets covered in bubble wrap to give some cushioning. We then wrap the hair around wire framework. I hope that helps.
