Do you have any questions about Portuguese Whitework in general or about my upcoming book, Portuguese Whitework: Bullion Embroidery from Guimarães? Well, this is your chance to ask those questions, and if I know the answer, then I’ll definitely answer it for you. Ask away!
White Threads is the blog of Yvette Stanton, the author, designer, publisher behind Vetty Creations' quality needlework books and embroidery products.

Hi Yvette!
I know it will be available in Australia in late April but what about North America? Any ideas?
Great question, Jeanine! Shipping projections indicate that it should arrive with my distributor by the end of April (assuming all goes well). It will then need to be sent out to retailers, so I guess it depends on how quickly retailers decide to order it for their shops. If you have a local shop or a favourite shop that you would like to get it for you, you can ask them to order it from our distributor – Dinky Dyes in Texas.
Oooh! Hopefully in time for my birthday in May!!
Thanks for the info, Traditional Stitches in Calgary usually carries your books, I’ll ask Janice now so she can be ready!
Hi Yvette:
I received the book today. I want to start a project. Please recommend a good place to buy a 38ct linen.
Hi Antonia, That’s great news!
I have it in stock – am currently working on putting it on the website. I also have the needles and thread. You could give me a call.
Otherwise, closer to home for you, is AllThreads Embroidery in Norman Park.
Hi Yvette,
I received the book last week.I finished reading it and thank you so much for this wonderful book.I’m waiting for the supplies to reach soon, planning to do the sampler project:).There is an image of a monogram in pg 7 where velvet stitch is used and I want to include velvet stitch in my sampler.May I ask you what thread is used for the velvet stitch?
Thanks once again..All the best for your future projects.
Hi Anita, Glad you like the book! All stitching is worked with pearl cotton 8, and therefore the velvet stitch would also use that. Hope that helps. Have fun!
Yvette,
Thank you so much for the information.Eagerly awaiting for your next book….
