technique pages

I spent yesterday working on more step-by-step technique pages for the book. I’ve been mulling over exactly what I need to explain and in how much detail. If you know my books I tend to have quite a lot of detail, and *lots* of steps. I figure that I need to assume you know nothing, because then everyone should be able to understand if I go through everything in detail.

An editor I used to work for used to get us to write for 12 year olds. She figured that if 12 year olds could understand it, then that would cover pretty much everyone that would want to access the information.

So I spent the day creating diagrams and writing instructions to go with them. There was a lot of deciding what to put in and what to leave out. I turned off the internet so as not to be distracted by that, and was much more productive.

The book keeps expanding. Originally I thought it wouldn’t be a very long book, but perhaps that’s not actually right. It keeps needing more and more pages! Ah, so much more to do yet!
