I’m not wanting to make my blog into a ranting political statement, but here’s my thought for the day:
“I mourn the loss of thousands of precious lives, but I will not rejoice in the death of one, not even an enemy. Returning hate for hate multiplies hate, adding deeper darkness to a night already devoid of stars. Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King, Jr.
Now, onto embroidery things. I’ve been getting ready for my classes in Maitland next week, over the past few days. I’ll be teaching two classes: a two day Mountmellick class, and a two hour exploring embroidery stitches class.
I’ve been putting together the embroidery stitches class kits, and having a lovely time selecting fabrics and threads. I’ll be supplying a piece of fabric, and thread, teaching five lesser known stitches that people often don’t think to use, and then letting them loose to do what they want with it all.
Here’s what I did with my stitches, thread and fabric. Can you identify the five stitches? (Hint: they’re all in my stitch dictionaries!)
White Threads is the blog of Yvette Stanton, the author, designer, publisher behind Vetty Creations' quality needlework books and embroidery products.

Amen to that.
Your blog software thinks the above is too short so …. I can only add that Martin Luther King Jr was so right in what he said. He was such a special person taken far too soon.
I fear more evil will come from this one death unfortunately.
I don’t know why it won’t allow short comments. Perhaps it is encouragement to be verbose. 🙂
I heard yesterday that it is apparently a misquote of MLK – that he said some of it but not all. Regardless of whether he did or not, I still think the sentiments are worthwhile.
I, too, agree with your quote/misquote of MLK. Unfortunately we appear to be in a minority (see, I’m writing as much as I can!…)
I think I recognise Spiral Trellis and Palestrina stitch, maybe Herringbone? And Braid stitch.
How did I do?
