I found out the other day that the exhibition Ballet Russes: the Art of Costume at the National Gallery of Australia has been extended until May 1. It was supposed to end last weekend, and the poster I have on my wall above my computer tells me this every time I look at it!
The exhibition has been so popular that they have extended it. This is wonderful news. The Valentino exhibition in Brisbane at the end of last year also far exceeded visitor number projections. Perhaps Australian museums might get the message that textile exhibitions are well patronised and put more on, more often? I do hope so!
If you’re nowhere near Canberra, where the exhibition is on show, do visit the gallery website, as it is very informative, including a video about the Ballet Russes in general and the exhibition itself.
