caring when serious illness strikes

As many of you probably know, in 2008 I became sick with what is known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS). I personally believe that CFS is a label given to illness when the medical professionals treating the sufferer can’t find the real cause of the mysterious illness. It is diagnosed simply by ruling other things out. So if you haven’t got A, B, C, D,…. X, Y or Z, but you’ve had symptoms 1, 2 and 3 for more than six months, then we’ll call it CFS.

Due to the prayers of my church and family, and the treatment of my doctor who is also a traditional Chinese medicine practioner, I eventually became well again after 9 months. Some people think this is a very long time to be sick, but I consider it to be blissfully short for an illness that can afflict some people for years and years.

I tend to do my thinking through writing. Towards the end of my illness, I had a big think, and wrote an article called Caring when serious or chronic illness strikes. I’ve put it up on my website in the hope that others might find it useful.

I’ll read it, and maybe even provide some comments re my own experience……on a day when I feel less sick! Today is a day of writing very few comments, let alone reading much.

But I had a good day’s embroidering yesterday, and hope for one tomorrow….
