White threads with a difference

As you know, the title of this blog is White Threads, due to my enduring love of whitework. Today I came across some whitework with a difference: Quaker cross stitch worked as whitework. Its stunning!

Check out the gorgeous whitework version of the Mary Wigham sampler at Needleprint. It was stitched by Willy de Boer.

That’s all for today. Nearly back to good health! :-)

    Hi Yvette,
Did you notice that is was stitched with floche? Gorgeous isn’t it?

  • It gives the sampler a totally different appearance, doesn’t it!

Rachel, yes, its a very different look. I love it!

Shay, no I didn’t realise it was floche. That’s such lovely thread.

  • I landed on that via my RSS feeds a short while before landing here. I agree it is gorgeous and looks remarkably different in all white. While the end result is definitely worth it, I think it takes more perseverance than normal to work something of entirely of that size entirely in the same colour/thread.

Yes, I think you’re right on that. There’d be no little carrots of the next colour (or stitch) to move onto, because its all the same. I guess I’d just have to motivate myself by getting excited about moving on to the next motif.
