Manufacturers of toilet paper here haven’t yet perfected the art of perforations between sheets. Some sheets are very short, some are very long (within the one roll), and it is a rare day indeed when the perforations extend the whole way across the width of the roll.
Some Ethiopian honey, when candied, has the colour and texture of earwax. I’m not sure about the taste, as I don’t like honey at the best of times… My daughter caused a small stir in class at school when she told one of her classmates that she had earwax sandwiches that day!
Margarine here is not often refrigerated in shops. And even if it is, it most likely wasn’t on its journey here from (usually) the Netherlands, via Dubai. This means that it is as unspreadable as butter. We have taken to keeping a small container with about 2-3 days worth on the countertop, so that its not there long enough to go rancid, but at least it will be spreadable.
Taxis are blue and white – except if you are at the airport, and then they are yellow. The streets are filled with small Russian Ladas, all painted in blue on the bottom half, and white on the top half. Most are beaten and battered, testament to the irregular driving conditions…

I can read all your posts in my google reader, but the photos
Do you want me to cpy them and send??
YES, please!!! Thank you so much! The photos are not a problem because I still have them all on my hard drive, and there weren’t many of them anyway because I only figured out a day or two ago how to put them on. 🙂
Thank you Meri!! 😀
Hope the e-mails arrived well!
I don’t know if you’ve made any change in your feeds, in fact the new posts don’t arrived at google reader… yesterday I had to open your blog because i was surprised you had’t written no more after the photos! and Addis textiles posts and then I read about the trouble you had.
So see if the last posts are safe – I have no new post in google reader no more, only old ones !
Hi Meri,
The blog, though it LOOKS like the old one, is a completely new one. New database and everything because I did such a GREAT job of completely wiping the old one. It probably means that you may need to re-sign-up for the feed. I don’t really know how these things work. I did (i thought successfully) set up a feed through Feedburner, and signed up for it myself, but though I have been posting, I have received nothing. I don’t actually get the whole feed thing, myself, as I have only ever read people’s blogs AT their blogs.
I’ll have to look into it again.
As for the emails, I don’t have full access to my emails at the moment. My friend who is running the business does, and I have asked her to send on any emails from you, but as she’s on the other side of the world, she’s asleep at the moment! So I feel sure she will send it through tomorrow.
Thanks so much, in advance, for what I’ll get through her, from you. (Wow, that was a bit of a mouthful!)
As soon I’m sure you’ve all the e.mail posts I’ll delete your blog from my google reader and rewrite it again 🙂
