Look what I got earlier this week down at the Crewel Gobelin!
Back in January I asked Margaret, owner of the Crewel Gobelin, if she had heard of Gilt Sylke Twist, and she hadn’t. But always being one to try to please, Margaret said she’d try to get some for me.
Well, she did! She’s got (I think) the full range of colours. I bought Redde, Lincolne Green, and Blewe.
They ARE expensive, but as there is nothing else like them, and they are gorgeous, you really just have to accept that you have to pay for quality. And, with the dollar the way it is compared to the US dollar, I don’t think you could get them here yourself (by ordering online from the US) cheaper than that.
Thanks Margaret! Now I just have to find time to use them in a project. I do have a design forming in my mind…

How much are they? I’ve just been to the site and can’t find them

Hi Elmsley Rose,
Margaret said that she hasn’t got them up on the website yet, but hopefully will very shortly. You can always ring her to order.
They were $29.00 a roll, but keep in mind with the fluctuations in the exchange rate that prices might change depending on when they come into the country. So while the current stock is $29, I don’t think we should count on them always being that.
I was happy to get 3 for under $100… I’m sorry, but that just makes me gasp!
That is a good price! Thanks for telling me – and for getting me to go to Crewel Goblin. Good prices on the English gold threads there too.
