White Threads

on the cover!

I got the latest issue of “Embroidery and Cross Stitch” magazine yesterday (Vol 15 No 3) and found…(drum roll…) my Hardanger bag is on the cover!

Wow! I’ve had the cover of “Inspirations” before, but I think that this is the first time I’ve had the cover of “Embroidery and Cross Stitch”.

Marilyn Stanley, the editor, has been completely enamoured with the project, so it was lovely of her (and the rest of the team) to put it on the cover.

The bag itself uses a new technique of a sheer fabric overlay on evenweave linen. The hardanger is then worked through both layers, with the evenweave underneath guiding the stitch placement.

    Hi,

Just discovered your blog today when I followed you back home through your post on my own blog 🙂

Here in the USA we are always a bit late in being able to purchase the Embroidery & Cross Stitch magazines. The latest I have is 15.1 but have seen the one with the lovely bag on the cover as a friend sent me the link to it and it seems amazing and to find out that it is YOUR bag makes it a double surprise for me, a nice one at that. I can’t wait to get this magazine and see the project up close.

By the way, I have put Shalimar aside for a little while and will be working on Windows into my heart, probably followed by a bit more Hardanger as I have been thinking about it lately while working on some other projects. Just so much to do and so little time, isn’t it always the problem?

Will be following your blog from now on.

    Hi Pierrette,

Thanks for your kind comments about my bag. I think it is one of THE projects that I like most out of all that I have ever designed. Sometimes things just work REALLY well, and it surprises even me!

I’m looking forward to seeing your hardanger growing again! 🙂
