eleven stitches

Over the past two days I have been getting stuck into working on the stitch dictionary app. In that time I have gotten 11 stitches done. Yep, just 11. It takes a long and boring time to do these. Considering there are about 170 stitches in the book, you can see that this is still […]

an enjoyable Portuguese Whitework class

Yesterday I had a lovely day at Lyn’s Fine Needlework at Baulkham Hills, here in Sydney. There were 10 students for a Portuguese Whitework class. This class came about during the craft show back in June. Jeanette, the owner of Lyn’s Fine Needlework, had come over to have a chat with me, and we decided […]

working on the new book

A few of my readers who I met at the craft show mentioned how much they enjoyed reading about the process of writing my Portuguese Whitework book. I’m glad they found it interesting!

Well, the new book has been decided upon! The craft show really helped me to crystallise one of my possible book ideas […]

embroidery examples in my stitch dictionaries

Occasionally I have comments from people wanting to know more about the embroidery examples in my books, The Left-Handed Embroiderer’s Companion and The Right-Handed Embroiderer’s Companion. People seem to want to know the story behind them.

For those of you who are familiar with my historical whitework books, seeing my stitch dictionaries for the […]

Embroidery stitch dictionary app

Yesterday I introduced the idea of a smartphone app based on my two books The Left-Handed Embroiderer’s Companion and The Right-Handed Embroiderer’s Companion. I also put it on my personal Facebook page (to which anyone can subscribe to my public updates), and my Vetty Creations Facebook page. Because of this, I’ve had feedback streaming in […]

considerations

I think I told you a little while ago that I had made a provisional decision on what book to write next, just so that I had something to get on with. I didn’t really see the point in sitting around for the next six months just wondering about which one to do next. And […]

Adelaide book launch

While in Adelaide, I had the opportunity to launch Portuguese Whitework: Bullion Embroidery from Guimarães. Months before, I had talked with Fiona from Country Bumpkin about the possibility of doing this, but I wasn’t sure that it was going to be possible until I knew that the books were here in Australia in my possession, […]

Advance copies on their way

When you have a book printed, there is the option of having what are called “Advance copies” sent. This means pretty much what you might think it would mean – some copies are sent in advance of the main shipment. Two copies are the usual quantity.

I got an email from my printers last night […]
