A new Hardanger pattern available

Last Thursday the lovely people at Inspirations magazine posted a picture on Facebook and Pinterest of Hardanger that I taught in a class back in 2010. The picture linked to the blog post about the class that I was going to be teaching at The Crewel Gobelin (way back in June 2010 when the […]

old Hardanger runner

Last night my fingers needed something to do. I think I’ve been missing stitching, since finishing off the book. I went and found the old Hardanger runner I’ve had floating around my office since I discovered it, unfinished in a drawer last year. Until I’ve figured out what book I’m going to do next, this […]

Claire Hardanger Doily stitched by Crystal

Earlier this year I heard from Crystal in Colorado. She was stitching the Claire Doily from my book Elegant Hardanger Embroidery, and had a few questions. I answered her questions (I’m always happy to provide after sales service, so if you have questions, please just ask!) and requested that she send me a photograph when […]

Hardanger Needlecase pattern now available

When I was in Singleton recently, I took my own needlecase with me as that’s where I store my needles. One of the class participants was quite taken with it, and wanted to know if the pattern was available.

It is now!

Award-winning Hardanger review

A long, long time ago, way back in 2000, I entered a hardanger I had designed and stitched in the Nordic Needle Hardanger Design Contest. At the time, I was working as a book designer for an international publishing company.

I sent off a photo of my embroidery and was delighted when it was selected […]

the ideal scissors for cutwork

When I teach Hardanger and Portuguese Whitework I take my embroidery scissors around the class with me as I teach and demonstrate. Often students will discover that their embroidery scissors are just not up to the job of careful cutting threads next to stitching. They may be too big and chunky, or they may be […]

Sharron’s success

Once upon a time I taught a class in merezhka at Springwood, here in NSW. We did a small panel of merezhka as an introduction to the style. There were many lovely ladies in that class, but there was one student who *really* took to merezhka.

Big Time.

Sharron absolutely loved the embroidery style […]

Mountmellick and Hardanger

I had a wonderful day yesterday teaching Mountmellick embroidery to a group of lovely ladies at Hobbysew, Penrith. We did the small honeysuckle doily from our book Mountmellick Embroidery: Inspired by Nature. They did a great job, and some were very vocal about how much they were learning and enjoying the class.

Look […]
