Start the day with some embroidery

A glorious sunrise

I recently read an article I really loved. http://craftindustryalliance.org/morning-makes-start-day-creating-not-consuming/

Why did I love it so much? I am a morning person. I generally wake much earlier than I would like to, and stay in bed until it seems a reasonable time to actually get up. Then I go to my […]

How to stitch on planes

Having done a bit of stitching in small spaces lately, I thought it might be useful to make this little instructional video about stitching in small spaces.

If you’re reading this in an email, you can see the video at: https://youtu.be/ypv7zXEk2aE

I’m loving learning

Learning about a local embroidery for one of my previous books.

One of the things that I am really enjoying about researching my next book is how much I am learning. Another is the fun of sleuthing.

As I research this book I am spending a lot of time searching through museum and library […]

Lacemaking in the Rio Olympics closing ceremony

Today we have a guest post from Regina Yatiyo Otake Mattosinho who lives in Brazil. She’s going to tell us a little about the lacemaking that was featured in yesterday’s Rio Olympics closing ceremony. If you’re like me, you were more than a little surprised that lacemaking was featured in the ceremony, but I was […]

Happy World Embroidery Day!

Today is World Embroidery Day. I’m going to wear some embroidery, and if I find the time (???) I’m going to stitch in public today. Celebrate loud and long! 🙂

How will you celebrate?

lots of research

Over the past week or two, I have been doing heaps of research for the next book. It’s so interesting. At the end of each day I realise that I have learnt so much! I’ve been doing lots of looking at images, identifying patterns across them – things that turn up regularly – and things […]

World Embroidery Day – 30th July

Saturday 30th July is World Embroidery Day.

Last year I celebrated World Embroidery Day by wearing some embroidery and stitching in public. I think I’ll do the same this year. I encourage you to do it also.

Perhaps, seeing it is a Saturday, you might be able to get together with some friends and stitch […]
