forget-me-nots and daisies

I spent the day working on a new Mountmellick project yesterday in preparation for a class next year. I had such a lovely time sitting there stitching away all day. It is to be a cushion, and the plants on it are forget-me-nots and daisies. Very pretty, dainty flowers!

I tried out some new stitch […]

Mind a-whirr with design possibilities

The other day I was honoured to received an invitation to teach at a new (for me) venue. They’re asking for something a little different than what I would normally teach, and so I am delighted to consider some new design possibilities.

As Sir Humphrey Appleby (or was it Bernard Woolley?) would say, “in the […]

Pattern drafting

On Friday I spent some time with the Embroiderers’ Guild group at Miranda, teaching them Portuguese Whitework. It was the first of two lessons with them, so I will go back in a few weeks for the second class.

It was a very nice morning, and I enjoyed meeting some lovely ladies. I’m looking forward […]

an enjoyable Portuguese Whitework class

Yesterday I had a lovely day at Lyn’s Fine Needlework at Baulkham Hills, here in Sydney. There were 10 students for a Portuguese Whitework class. This class came about during the craft show back in June. Jeanette, the owner of Lyn’s Fine Needlework, had come over to have a chat with me, and we decided […]

upcoming classes

Most of the classes will be this project from my book "Portuguese Whitework: Bullion Embroidery from Guimarães"

Class bookings have gone quite crazy here. Hardly a week goes by when I don’t have a new class enquiry. I’m now booked well into 2013, so soon I will have to stop taking any further bookings […]

Teaching in 2012-2013

Just a word of warning: if your group or shop is looking at booking me for a class before the end of 2013, you’d better get in quick. My husband has very kindly organised me today with a great big dates planner. We’ve put in all the existing teaching bookings, and there are not many […]

Shingo Sato is coming to Australia

I learned yesterday on Facebook that Shingo Sato is coming to Australia! “Who is Shingo Sato?” I hear you say…

Shingo Sato is a Japanese fashion designer and teacher of the Transformation Reconstruction technique. I used his techniques last year when I created Rainbow Girl’s rainbow dress.

If I ever have the time, one day […]

I’m back!

I had a WONDERFUL time in Adelaide at Beating Around the Bush. Enjoyed the class, and market day, and loved hearing Jenny Adin-Christie last night at the gala dinner.

I really enjoyed spending time with the other tutors, socialising and talking shop. I was just a little overawed to meet some of the international […]

Adelaide awaits

Well, I’m not sure that Adelaide is awaiting me, but I’m certainly looking forward to seeing it!

I’m off to Adelaide for Beating Around the Bush today. This afternoon I’ll be setting up my stall for the Market Day tomorrow. And then a Mountmellick class on Thursday and Friday. It should be great fun!

I […]
