I’m having an idea.
A few years ago, I did a Christmas ornament (pattern available for purchase here) that was a triangular pyramid, or tetrahedron, which you can see in the photo. It was made of a strip that was twice as long as it was wide, or so I recall.
I was thinking that seeing my 2010 ornament is basically square (it has a single stitch that sticks out one thread more at the centre of each side), I could work two of them, right next to each other and make it into the same shape as my previous tetrahedron ornament.
That’s the idea. We’ll see how it goes. Stay tuned…

I think that would be lovely. Just the other day I came across a great free tutorial online for how to construct a ‘humbug’ and I had never heard of that – turned out to be the same tetrahedron/triangular pyramid shape you are talking about.
Yvette: I made something very similar and just mailed it off for an exchange last week to England!! Its called a humbug (as the lollies used to be that shape), and started with an embroidered piece twice as long as it was wide

If you check out the Victoria Sampler website – look under
free charts – she had a contest called Humbug and the winning design is posted. It is amazing! but the shape is the same as your tetrahedra.
