I’ve just found out that there’s currently a Valentino exhibition on in Brisbane! A few years ago when we were in Paris, there was a fabulous exhibition of Valentino gowns at the Musée des Arts Decoratifs. It was wonderful.
I found a selection of photos from the Brisbane exhibition on the ABC news website. I recognise some of the dresses as being ones that I saw in Paris. I just loved his amazing sense of drape and use of fabric.
This is the gallery website, the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art. Reading some of the small print down the bottom of the page, it makes me wonder whether it is the same exhibition that we saw in Paris. Well, I guess there is only one way to properly find out. I wonder how I can get the chance to go?

If you come up to Brisbane to teach, a good reason to go to the exhibition. Come to Brisbane during school holiday and bring your kids, another reason to go. I think they may have a section for kids activities. They had that during the hat exhibition. 1 hr drive from Brisbane to Gold Coast for the theme parks, good for the kids. I will go to Valentino exhibition in Sept, my friends from Maleny will come to join me.
I think Kerryn has got me down to teach sometime in November at AllThreads, so it might be possible to see it then. 🙂
I just checked All Thread website, the date of your class has not been confirmed. Have you decided what you are going to teach?
I’m actually waiting to find out what Kerryn would like me to teach!
A lot of these Exhibitions do tour – just as well or I’d never have got to see the Treasures of Tutankhamun a couple of years back, or a Vivienne Westwood retrospective which was fascinating!
Yes, they might tour within Europe, but not often to Australia! 😉
