White Threads

Christmas is coming…

A week or so ago I received a lovely email from Lisa in Canada. She said:

I purchased one of your books, Ukrainian Drawn Thread Embroidery, quite a while ago and I’m only now looking at it. I must compliment you on your lovely creation. The pictures, the instructions, the patterns, all so clear and concise. I’m from Canada and for a long time I never realised how serious Australians were about their embroidery. This book proves that. I feel like purchasing your other books just to have the collection.

Thanks Lisa! I am so glad that you have enjoyed the book!

I’ve been a little quiet here lately, as I’ve been just trying to get myself a little organised. (Not that I have anything to show for it – my office is still as messy as ever!)

I have to start sewing all the Christmas decoration gifts in the next few weeks, so that’s been on my mind. I’ll be making them for the kids’ school teachers, piano teachers etc. Each year I make a Christmas decoration as a gift for each of my husband’s staff. Unfortunately he keeps getting more and more staff! Last year I didn’t make any for them because I was too unwell, and I know that one of them in particular was very disappointed. So this year’s has got to be good! I have an idea now, just have to work out colours and fabrics. Circular will be the theme, I think.

If you’re thinking about making Christmas decorations, you’ll find that I have ornament patterns in red blackwork, blue blackwork and hardanger, and even a smocked ornament. I find that they are a lovely way to give something really special and personal, because chances are, they won’t be getting another one the same… There’s not long now, so you’d better get cracking! (And so had I!)

I know all about Christmas presents and being too unwell! *grin*
I'm only planning on (illuminating) one this year, and am already buying the rest, already, from Etsy.
I actually still have a home made card in my drawer for a family member that has now passed away, I'm that bad at giving cards/presents on time!
