We received our copy of Australian Geographic magazine this week. Apart from the bonus planisphere that we will enjoy using when we head out to western NSW in the near future, there was a fascinating article on The Institute For Figuring and their project to crochet a coral reef.
The Hyperbolic Crochet Coral Reef project is the brainchild of twins (as an aside: all twins are excellent…) Margaret and Christine Wertheim, using the techniques of hyperbolic crochet.
Its an interesting mix of science, maths and crafting, and I was thrilled to see needlecrafts get a full page in such a mainstream journal as Australian Geographic!
