I have been working on a thank you gift for Gillian, who presented me with the beautiful scarf from Turkey.
I’ve decided that a suitable gift is a bookmark, with Hardanger embroidery worked on it. I have no idea if she has any interest in embroidery, therefore if it is a bookmark, she can choose to park it in a book forever more if she doesn’t actually want to look at it often!
If you know me, you know that I particularly like Hardanger embroidery which is more in the traditional band style. However in more recent times, I have tried working with coloured threads, which is quite a departure for me, as I am a complete sucker for white on white Hardanger!
So here is the bookmark in progress.
White Threads is the blog of Yvette Stanton, the author, designer, publisher behind Vetty Creations' quality needlework books and embroidery products.

Gorgeous and you know what my name is, lol! What is the thread shade you are using, it’s lovely.
Yes, but I don’t think you’re the one in my biblestudy group, are you?! 🙂
The thread is DMC 4065.
that is beautiful yvette – I am hoping to try some hardanger this year.
Thanks Fiona. Stop “hoping” and just do it! 😀
It looks delightful, Yvette, and I don’t think it’s possible to have too many bookmarks, so I am sure it will be a welcome gift1
Lovely colors, I’m sure she will love it.
Shay
Lovely,can you share the pattern?
Hello Yvette, (that’s not something I get to say very often! 😀 )
At this stage I am still working on the pattern. Maybe in the future I will make it available. In the meantime though, the design is still copyright. 🙂
