Italian needlework blog

For anyone who is interested in Italian needlework, a friend of mine, Jeanine, has a newish blog all about it: http://italian-needlework.blogspot.com/

Jeanine lives in Canada. I have never met her, but we have corresponded over many years, often about obscure forms of embroidery that interest us both, but perhaps no-one else. 🙂

Jeanine lived for a period of time in Italy, and Italian needlework has become her passion. She is extremely well-connected in the Italian needlework community, and has translated a number of Italian needlework texts into English.

Her knowledge of Italian needlework, though ever-expanding, is already very great. She has some wonderfully interesting posts on all sorts of different types of Italian needlework, usually with photos of absolutely gorgeous needlework. Some of it is just exquisite!

So if you are at all interested in Italian needlework, Italian handmade needlelace or whitework in general, pop on over and visit Jeanine. You won’t be disappointed!

Hi Yvette = thank you for all your wonderful information! Now I have even less time to do my housework having glimpsed Jeanine’s site which will obviously need to be read in depth!
    Regards, Eunice

Housework, smoushwork… Who needs to waste time on such frivolities when there are important things like needlework and reading blogs about needlework to be done?

Couldn’t agree more – thank you for this link. About to make a cup of tea and study in depth!

    Hi Yvette,
I met you briefly at your stand at the Sydney Craft Fair recently, & after telling you I was interested in Italian embroidery you suggested I find Jeanine’s blog through yours – I am now addicted to both – I had discovered an article by Jeanine on Punto Antico last year some time, so was keen to see her blog.I must tell how fantastic it is with so many great links also – many thanks for connecting me – I will be passing it on to other members of my group at NSW Guild. The group is the Fine Needlework & Lace Group and it is 5 years old this Oct. We recently had a fantastic room display at the Guild in May with most whitework examples shown. We are a very passionate group that meets on the last Sunday of the month.
Thanks again for your blog & the connection to Jeanine’s.

    Hi Debra,

Yes, I remember our conversation at the show well. I told Jeanine that I had recommended her to you, and I am so glad that you were able to follow it up and now enjoy her blog so much. I visit her blog about once a week to catch up on all that she has there. Jeanine is just amazing. She does so much research and is so happy to share it. Just the other day she sent me some photos of some terribly obscure stitch, knowing that I would be interested – and of course I was!

Thanks for letting me know that you were able to get to Jeanine’s site. I really thought that you would enjoy it!
