This weekend we have a long weekend supposedly to celebrate the Queen’s birthday. However, people in my family know that this is not the case. We celebrate my twin sister’s and my birthdays!
However, on our birthday long weekend, the Queen’s Birthday Honours list is always announced, and each year, I always go through, looking for someone to have been honoured for their contribution to embroidery.
In previous years, Jane Nicholas has been awarded an honour, and Morna Sturrock (co-founder of Embroiderers Guild of Victoria) has also received one.
This year, I found:
MEDAL (OAM) IN THE GENERAL DIVISION
Mrs Robyn Hope GINN, Toowoomba QLD – For service to the arts of quiltmaking and needlecraft.
Congratulations to this very talented Australian needleworker!
Here’s a link to a picture of some of her work.
