White Threads FlossTube #48 – Fashioning Fashion book review

Today I review the book “Fashioning Fashion”, which is a gorgeous book showing beautiful clothes from LACMA’s incredible fashion collection. I do a flick through so you can see what’s in the book, and also show some details that particularly caught my eye.

If you’re reading this in an email, the video can be […]

White Threads FlossTube #23 – My favourite embroidery hoop (and why)!

Some people have expressed an interest in knowing the things that are in my embroidery kit. Today I tell you all about my favourite hoop (it’s a Klass and Gessmann 8 inch hoop with stand) and why I love it.

If you are reading this in an email, you can find the video here […]

White Threads FlossTube #5 – wash-out fabric pencils

I was getting ready to post this video earlier today when two tonnes of firewood was delivered (and needed to be stacked before the rain came), and two pet sheep were delivered for a holiday here to eat the grass in our back paddock. Meet Sugar and Harry! #gallery-1 { margin: auto; } #gallery-1 .gallery-item […]

hoops, scissors and peacock feathers

I had a couple of deliveries this week. It’s always fun to get parcels!

The Dovo Hardanger scissors (which I sold the last of at the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair) are now back in stock.

And finally, I again have all sizes of the Klass and Gessmann wooden hoops with stands back in […]

New shipment – Dovo Hardanger scissors

Yesterday I received a new shipment of Dovo Hardanger scissors. They are such lovely scissors.

Susan requested to see the points of the scissors, and I thought you might like to see them too. The points are very sharp and pointy (not rounded or squared off on the ends), and go between the threads […]

Working on a book project with my hoop and stand

Two weekends ago I began work on one of the larger projects for the book. It’s a sampler and features bands of the embroidery, from different locations and in different styles. It’s great fun to stitch, as the patterns change regularly and if you discover there’s one you don’t particularly like stitching, pretty soon you’ll […]

We now stock all sizes of the interchangeable hoops!

For some time now I have stocked the Klass and Gessmann hoops and sitting stands (also known as fanny frames). Previously I only had the 8 inch hoop as standard and all other sizes were a special order. I now have the full range!

This means that you can now order the following sizes:

155mm/6 […]

Things that scare me: Frixion pens

Sometimes in my classes, people use Frixion pens. I always express my caution about them. To me, they, and those “wash out” markers are not what I would be using.

I do not like the idea of marking my embroidery with a pen ink that disappears. This is because I cannot be sure that […]

Hardanger scissors

Premax 2.75in / 7cm embroidery scissors

This morning I was taking part in a discussion on the best scissors for Hardanger in a web group. I posted a link to my favourite scissors for Hardanger (Premax 2.75 inch / 7cm embroidery scissors), the ones I use, love, and therefore sell.

The conversation carried on, […]
