Today I received my contributors’ copy of “Inspirations” No 62, from Country Bumpkin. It is, as always, full of absolutely gorgeous embroidery.
I have a project in the magazine: “Snow White”, a Mountmellick embroidery tablecloth. I actually made this cloth some time ago, and when my friends at Inspirations called, asking if I could do a project for them, we arranged to put this one in, as I was too ill at the time to make something new.
The tablecloth features a centre circlet of blackberry and dogrose branches. There are wonderfully plump berries, lots of leaves and also some roses. Blackberry and rose always go well together because they are from the same family of plants, so they really look very similar.
Being Mountmellick embroidery, it is of course, white on white, and has a large selection of highly textured stitches.
As usual, all the Mountmellick embroidery supplies for this tablecloth can be purchased from Vetty Creations.
I was going to link to the Country Bumpkin preview of Issue 62 on their website, but it doesn’t seem to be working yet. I’ll send you a link to some pictures when they become available.
Oh my Yevette, I just got my copy of Insp. #62 here in the states. The project is so beautiful!
I am a little intimidated to try such a project but I may try when I finally master the knitting, I am not a knitter so I am learning from scratch.
Did you do another project for Inspirations? I want to order that copy.
I will be going to surgery in a week, so I am lining up projects for my recovery time. I am working on some of your stitches for my stitching journal.
I will be ordering more supplies from you soon. It is really hard to find supplies for this type of embroidery. Thanks for being the one.
BJ, yes this is Bobbi-Jo, 🙂
Hi Bobbi-Jo,
I’m so glad you liked it! The tablecloth doesn’t actually have a knitted edge – it is just hemmed, so don’t let the fringe put you off making it!
Yes, I have done other Mountmellick projects for Inspirations previously (and I’ve also done hardanger, candlewicking, and felted, embroidered knitting… and lots of feature articles. I think that may be all). The main previous Mountmellick project was in issue 55. Its a passionflower doily, and on the front cover! 🙂 In issue 56 there was a small Mountmellick inspired Christmas decoration too. (White on white with lines of textured stitches.)
I hope that your surgery and recovery goes well, and is not too long or trying. But I guess it will be a wonderful excuse to get some stitching done!
Glad that I can help you with supplies. Yes, they are hard to get, and that’s why its so important that I do stock them!
