Today’s video from White Threads FlossTube is a tutorial from my upcoming online self-paced video course. The course is on the Frisian Whitework Silk Sampler, and the video tutorial shows how to work a square eyelet cluster.
If you are reading this in an email, the video can be found at https://youtu.be/OGd3s-4LM8o
I also need to let you know about an error in “Frisian Whitework: Dutch Embroidery from Friesland”.
On Page 39:
Stitches and techniques: “four thread eyelet” should be “Algerian eyelet – page p90-91”.
Row 6: instead of four thread eyelets, work Algerian eyelets. If you’ve already worked them as four thread eyelets, it isn’t wrong, just different! I certainly wouldn’t undo them and redo them as Algerian eyelets.

Look forward to your online class. Will numbers be limited?
Hi Irene, there will likely be two ways that I run my course (the first one, which will be the Frisian Whitework Silk Sampler). I will have an online self-paced video course, which people can sign up for, receive their supplies pack and work their way through, using the videos and supplied written step-by-step instructions, at their own pace. This will be a self-directed form of learning that anyone can sign up to, at any time, and work their way through. My students in the pilot class said the instructional videos were so good that they didn’t need me, so that was the basis for this idea.
I will likely also run it from time to time as an online fortnightly class where instruction is released in a drip feed, and there are fortnightly get-togethers/check ins with me. This format will have limited numbers so that all students have access to me. The other one (the online self-paced video course) will not, because it would have no effect on the student whether there were two people working their way through course, or say, 37.
