Some people go on a book tour when they release a new book. I’ve never done this, but I thought I could instead take you on a tour of some of my books. I know that some of you have been along for the ride since the beginning but some of you are newer to my books and may not be aware of particularly some of the earlier ones. You are all most welcome to join me on my book tour!<\/p>\n

Yesterday we looked at Ukrainian Drawn Thread Embroidery<\/a>. Today we will take a tour of Portuguese Whitework: Bullion Embroidery from Guimar\u00e3es<\/a> by Yvette Stanton.<\/p>\n

This style of embroidery comes from the town of Guimar\u00e3es in northern Portugal. It features both drawn thread work and surface embroidery, particularly bullions. Because of that, it has a great mix of both openwork and texture.<\/p>\n

The book features step-by-step instructions for all the drawn thread work, and the surface work embroidery as well. There are also ten attractive projects ranging from small through to large, so there is something for everyone.<\/p>\n

Now, if you’re scared about all those bullions, don’t be! There are clear step-by-step instructions for bullions using a different method than many people use. I find that my students really appreciate this method, and those who haven’t had success before with bullions, finally find success!<\/p>\n

The supplies used for this form of embroidery are 38 count linen, pearl cotton No 8, tapestry needles and milliners needles. All can be found at the Vetty Creations website<\/a>.<\/p>\n
