The technique I am using is new to me. It is sm\u00f8yg, which is a Norwegian form of pattern darning. It is used in black and white as part of the Hardanger vinterbunad (winter bunad) and with the addition of colour as part of the \u00d8st Telemark beltestakk, which is their bunad&#8217;s name.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m making a collar for a shirt. Shown in the photo it is black and white only, but the colour has since started being added.<\/p>\n<p>This is a type of embroidery that you would not do if you did not like counted embroidery. It is all counted. There have been many mistakes, and lots of undoing!
