I realised that the needle that I was using was a darner needle, and not a milliner&#8217;s needle. As you know, I, along with many other teachers of embroidery recommend that <a href=\"http:\/\/vettycreations.com.au\/white-threads\/2010\/03\/02\/tips-for-working-better-bullion-stitch\">milliner&#8217;s needles<\/a> (also known as straw needles) are the best needles for bullion knots.<\/p>\n<p>And here I was, not even using one. Shame on me!<\/p>\n<p>I found some milliner&#8217;s needles, chose an appropriate size, and switched to using it.
