It was interesting to read her fictional story of how the tapestries came to be, and the family and people around them.<\/p>\n<p>I love the Unicorn tapestries. They are just gorgeous, and when we were in New York several years ago, we visited <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/cloisters\/\" target=\"_blank\">The Cloisters<\/a> to see the set that they have there.<\/p>\n<p>I particularly love the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.metmuseum.org\/works_of_art\/collection_database\/the_cloisters\/the_unicorn_in_captivity\/objectview.aspx?page=2&#038;sort=5&#038;sortdir=asc&#038;keyword=&#038;fp=1&#038;dd1=7&#038;dd2=28&#038;vw=1&#038;collID=28&#038;OID=70007568&#038;vT=1&#038;hi=0&#038;ov=0\" target=\"_blank\">millefleurs<\/a> &#8211; the millions of flowers in the background. They are beautiful, and one of the things that I also particularly love in William Morris&#8217; woven tapestries, with the millefleurs usually designed by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/John_Henry_Dearle\" target=\"_blank\">John Henry Dearle<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>I wrote an article a few years ago for Inspirations magazine on the meaning of flowers. While we just think they are pretty flowers, they all had symbolic meaning. All quite fascinating!<\/p>\n<p>But one of the things that caught my imagination most about &#8220;The Lady and The Unicorn&#8221; was the woad dyer, always stinking of urine.
