I’ve decided to enter an embroidery in an exhibition. The Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW, of which I am a member, is having an exhibition called “Stitch + Stitch = Magic” in September. Its focus is contemporary, innovative embroidery and design.<\/p>\n
The entry forms have to be in by tomorrow, Friday, so I posted mine off yesterday. I guess that I’m supposed to have already started the embroidery, as the form asks for the finished, framed size of the work… Well, your guess is as good as mine, seeing as I haven’t done anything for it yet other than think. The finished works need to be in part-way through August, so I have a little time left to do it in.<\/p>\n
I’m going to go with a similar idea as the two covers for the left and right-handed stitch dictionaries: hand-dyed Colourstreams felt using the colour gradations as contour lines along which to embroider.<\/p>\n
If I had more time, I’d also do a circular one, with concentric circles of different stitches exploding outwards. But I think one is ambitious enough right now!<\/p>\n
Unfortunately I won’t be able to show you the work beforehand, as the rules state that it must not have been previously published in any media. But that doesn’t mean I can’t take photos as I progress and keep them in store for later. \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n
