This is a thank you gift for Gillian, giver of the beautiful <a href=\"http:\/\/vettycreations.com.au\/white-threads\/2010\/05\/29\/a-beautiful-gift\/\">Turkish scarf<\/a>.<a href=\"http:\/\/vettycreations.com.au\/white-threads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/gillian-bookmark.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/vettycreations.com.au\/white-threads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/gillian-bookmark.jpg\" alt=\"Gillian hardanger embroidery bookmark\" title=\"gillian-bookmark\" width=\"216\" height=\"300\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1059\" srcset=\"http:\/\/vettycreations.com.au\/white-threads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/gillian-bookmark.jpg 216w, http:\/\/vettycreations.com.au\/white-threads\/wp-content\/uploads\/2010\/06\/gillian-bookmark-108x150.jpg 108w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 216px) 100vw, 216px\" \/><\/a>I used a new type of finishing for it, that I thought up in a lucid moment the other day, and was pretty pleased with the result.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m not entirely happy with the fact that the Algerian eyelets are so prominent in colour, but that&#8217;s ok. I&#8217;m not sure what would work better. Perhaps a lightish brown\/beige colour of the type that&#8217;s found in the multicoloured perle cotton.<\/p>\n<p>However, I&#8217;m reasonably confident that she&#8217;ll appreciate it anyway. I enjoyed making it!<\/p>\n<p>Also, just a reminder: If you are interested in learning how to do Hardanger embroidery, I will be teaching a beginner&#8217;s Hardanger class for The Crewel Gobelin in Killara, Sydney, for three weeks, starting Tuesday 22nd June, from 10am to 12noon.
