Testimonial from experienced Hardanger stitcher Linda

Another lovely testimonial, this time from Linda:

I purchased the book and it is worth every penny! I have been stitching Hardanger for years and yet this book has taught me so many things I didn’t know. Thanks Yvette!!

Thank you Linda!

I’m so glad to hear that even people who are experienced Hardanger […]

Credentials not required!

Studying smøyg in a museum in Norway

In response to my recent post about learning wherever knowledge is to be found, Robyn replied on Facebook:

So many are focused on credentials. We fail to acknowledge the wealth of knowledge that our parents and grandparents have that they pass on to our very lucky […]

How the book “Hardanger Filling Stitches” came to be

In October 2022, I was tagged in a FB Hardanger group comment by a woman named Donna. She was wishing for a compendium of Hardanger filling stitches (she later told me she’d wanted such a book for 40 years). She tagged me, because she felt that I should write that book.

I thought about […]

Learn from where you can

Me (third from left) meeting with and learning from some Norwegian stitchers at Husfliden in Skien, Norway, 2016.

Many years ago, I considered training at the Royal School of Needlework. In the end, my life took a different path. With the passing of time and the benefit of hindsight, I am so very […]

A “Hardanger Filling Stitches” review from Ann

Another lovely review. Thank you Ann!

This is a lovely book. Extremely well-researched with easy-to-read diagrams and explanations, plus that rarity of left and right-handed instructions, coming from someone who truly understands left-handed needlework. I have a few of Yvette’s books now and find them absolutely excellent. I was amazed at the incredibly quick […]

Is “Hardanger Filling Stitches” available in my language?

A common question about my books is, “Is it available in [my language]”?

This is a question I’ve addressed in my blog post Hardanger Filling Stitches – Frequently Asked Questions. If you haven’t yet read the FAQ, I implore you to do so, as it may help with my feelings of frustration. 😉

My […]

The books have arrived!

In the days before Christmas, the bulk shipment of Hardanger Filling Stitches books arrived from the printers! With the help of a wonderful band of fabulous friends and generous relatives, they were sorted and moved into my storage space.

As well as “Hardanger Filling Stitches”, I received new print runs of “Early-Style Hardanger” and […]

Cargo delayed

I’ve just learned that the cargo has been delayed. The ship was supposed to dock in Sydney (Port Botany) on the 10th, but is only arriving today.

Delivery to me will now be after Christmas. And THEN I’ll do the massive mail out of Hardanger Filling Stitches.

Ah well, it gives me more time […]

Hardanger Filling Stitches bulk shipment arrival and posting

The bulk shipment of Hardanger Filling Stitches books is likely to arrive at my storage facility in Sydney just a few days before Christmas. The delayed arrival is due to congestion at ports. While there is often congestion at ports at Christmas time, this has been compounded in Sydney because of a recent cyber […]

Hardanger Filling Stitches advance copies

I’m back from NZ, safely at home, and I’m supposed to be back in the office, but I’m unwell. Not covid, thankfully, but also not surprising, given how exhausted I was from the trip!

I thought you would like to see what arrived while I was away: the advance copies of “Hardanger Filling Stitches”! […]
