White Threads

We’ve moved!

In the past month, we have moved house from Sydney to the town of Walcha (pronounced Wolka) in the New England region of New South Wales. We have been warmly welcomed by the community. My husband has started at his new job, and my daughter has started at her new school. Our elder daughter remains […]

My class at EGA 2019 Seminar

I don’t think I’ve mentioned here yet that I’ll be teaching at the EGA (Embroiderers Guild of America) 2019 Seminar. This is more than a little bit exciting for me, as it’s the first time I’ll be teaching in the USA! The seminar will be held from October 30 to November 3, 2019 in St. […]

Temporary office closure – cruising again!

From 22nd April until 17th May, I will be out of the office, on a teaching trip. I will be cruising from Sydney to Seattle with the Needlework Cruises and Tours Craft Creations Cruise.

While I will have internet access, it is likely to be intermittent. Therefore, any enquiries and orders, I will attend […]

Trip report – Paris and mystery destination

I recently went to Paris to visit l’Aiguille en Fête, which is a big, annual craft show, not unlike the Sydney Craft and Quilt Fair that I exhibit at each year. I arranged for my sister Prue, who lives in Germany, to join me for my few days in Paris. She’s an embroidery designer too, […]

ANZEG conference classes

The ANZEG National Embroidery School is the largest gathering of embroiderers and textile artists at one time in New Zealand.

I will be teaching two classes at this year’s ANZEG conference in New Zealand: Early Style Hardanger Panel and Portuguese Whitework Sampler. I believe there is still room in each of these classes. […]

Off to Paris!

Detail of one of Monet’s waterlilies paintings (taken on a previous trip to Paris).

I’m going on a quick trip to Paris!

This year I have to go to Europe to “mystery destination” to do some research for the NEXT book (the one I have decided upon, but not started yet). I was […]

From 2017 to 2018

One of the Facebook groups I belong to has asked people to share what they’ve stitched this year. I’ve stitched heaps and most of it will be going into “Smøyg: Pattern Darning from Norway”, so I’m not willing to show it all to you just yet.

However, the biggest thing I’ve stitched this year was […]

Celebrating the end of schooling

We’re nearly at the end with The Reader. In just 4 school days time, The Reader will attend her final day of secondary school. Then she’ll have a few weeks holiday (full of study, mind you), a week’s study leave, and then her final exams, stretching over a few weeks.

She’s so very ready to […]

Happy Norwegian Constitution Day!

No, I’m not Norwegian, but I’d be very happy if there was some Norse in my heritage. Despite my lack of Norwegianness, but because I love their embroidery and am so grateful for what Norwegians have contributed to the world of embroidery, I do celebrate Norwegian Constitution Day, which is Norway’s national day. And it […]
