This weekend (and Monday and Tuesday) I will be teaching at Berrima Patchwork’s Quilting in the Highlands Retreat at Mittagong. Mittagong is in the Southern Highlands, south of Sydney. At this time of year, it is COLD down there. (Well, cold for us, not for people who regularly have snowy winters!) I’m planning to stay […] Today I’m of to Wollongong to teach Portuguese Whitework to the guild group there. I’m sure we will have a lovely day sharing stitching and each other’s company. We’ll be making the hanging ornaments from my book “Portuguese Whitework”. Not all five though – just one each! I have some stitching with me to do […] On Tuesday and Wednesday Singleton Embroiderers Guild group welcomed me back to teach Portuguese Whitework. A couple of years ago I did a Mountmellick workshop with them, which they greatly enjoyed. It was lovely to see several of the completed projects which they proudly brought along to show me! Our Portuguese Whitework class got off […] Yesterday I had a lovely day of stitching, working on my latest whitework project. It is progressing really well, and I am enjoying seeing it grow and change as it nears completion. I think that I might even have the embroidery finished by the end of the week. Then I’ll need to design the next […] I’m home from the Ballarat branch of the Victorian embroiderers’ guild’s Autumn Leaves Seminar, and I’m very tired! The class was a great success, with all the students learning a lot and very happy. We spent two days working on learning the stitches for the Mountmellick wildflower cushion, and the students also made a start […] Today I am in Ballarat in Victoria for the Ballarat branch of the Victorian Embroiderer’s Guild’s “Autumn Leaves Seminar”. I’ll be teaching Mountmellick embroidery. There are other tutors also here teaching their areas of specialty. As I’ve never been to this gathering before, I’ve no idea how big it is, or what to expect, so […] Just to update you on The Gymnast’s condition, it isn’t scarlet fever. It is another identifiable childhood illness, along similar lines (no, not chicken pox). She’s contagious until the rash goes away, so she’s in quarantine for a bit longer yet. This seriously cramps my style with getting work done during the day! I relish […] Last night I came back from a lovely weekend away, teaching the Mornington Peninsula group of the Victorian embroiderers guild and a group of embroiderers at the headquarters of the Victorian guild. Both groups did Portuguese Whitework classes, but different projects. The classes went very well, with some excellent quality stitching in evidence. They were […] On Friday I finally finished all five projects, their associated paperwork and photographs, and sent them off to Country Bumpkin as submissions for Beating Around the Bush 2014. I have no idea when I might hear back from them. My guess is that it could be some months. They will have a lot to […] I’m moving along with my five class submission projects. I have now completed four of them and am well into the fifth. I am very pleased with my progress and feel sure that it will all be submitted in time.
