First finishes from NZ trip

Whenever I teach a class, I always tell the students that I love to see photos of finished work, even if it is 10 years down the track! The first two photos have come through, following my recent New Zealand trip.

Lesley Anderson completed her Frisian Whitework Tree of Life within days of […]

Heading to New Zealand

Today I start heading in a New Zealandly direction, and the Vetty Creations office is closed. I won’t get to any more orders other than what has already come in, and therefore will have to send any that come in today, upon my return. All orders and enquiries that come during my absence will […]

there may not be a “next time”…

When I announce classes that I’ve been accepted to teach at conferences, conventions and various other venues, nothing is certain about those classes. Being selected does not mean the classes will go ahead. If they don’t fill, I don’t go. No-one will pay my way to teach a class that doesn’t have enough enrolments […]

ANZEG Conference 2024 – I’m teaching two classes!

I’m pleased to be able to reveal that I will be teaching two classes at the National Embroidery School as part of the 2024 ANZEG Conference in gorgeous Dunedin, NZ. The classes that were selected by the committee were my Frisian Whitework Silk Sampler, and Mountmellick Pomegranate Biscornu.

The National Embroidery School will […]

Auckland class availability

I’ll be in New Zealand next month on a teaching tour. Despite the fact that it has been organised extremely quickly, to cleverly capitalise on a cancellation of other classes elsewhere, most of the classes have already filled.

Detail from the sampler

However, there is one small opportunity for you if you’d like […]

November NZ teaching trip

A couple of weeks ago I had a phone call from a lovely lady in New Zealand. “So, because you’re not going to London, would you come to teach us instead?”

Apparently they were all sitting around in their embroidery group discussing things and they decided there was nothing to be lost from asking me […]

A class in Gippsland, Victoria?

It looks like I’ll be doing a teaching trip to Tasmania and Victoria next year, in April-May. I’ve had a few enquiries from people in the Gippsland region of Victoria in the past little while. There doesn’t seem to be an embroiderers guild group in that region, so there’s no point in me approaching them. […]

Introducing myself, for anyone new here…

In case you’re new here, I thought I would introduce myself. I’m Yvette Stanton. I live in a small country town, about five hours north of Sydney, Australia.

I’m passionate about embroidery, particularly whitework. My twin sister, Prue, and I were always creative, and when I was in high school I really began to […]

Whitework classes and why people choose them or not

Many years ago, an organiser of a yearly needlework teaching event said to me, “We can’t sell whitework classes.” Historically, they hadn’t had much success in getting people to choose whitework classes from amongst their class selections. This has always interested me. I’ve always wondered why.

I’ve wondered whether whitework is seen as the […]
