Teaching at a quilting retreat!

I’m sorry for my silence lately. I have been very busy whipping up a couple of projects for… (drum roll) The Berrima Patchwork “Quilting in the Highlands” Retreat for 2013!

About two weeks ago, late one evening, I received an email from Tamsin and Sue at Berrima Patchwork, inviting me to teach at their quilting […]

Mind a-whirr with design possibilities

The other day I was honoured to received an invitation to teach at a new (for me) venue. They’re asking for something a little different than what I would normally teach, and so I am delighted to consider some new design possibilities.

As Sir Humphrey Appleby (or was it Bernard Woolley?) would say, “in the […]

upcoming classes

Most of the classes will be this project from my book "Portuguese Whitework: Bullion Embroidery from Guimarães"

Class bookings have gone quite crazy here. Hardly a week goes by when I don’t have a new class enquiry. I’m now booked well into 2013, so soon I will have to stop taking any further bookings […]

Teaching in 2012-2013

Just a word of warning: if your group or shop is looking at booking me for a class before the end of 2013, you’d better get in quick. My husband has very kindly organised me today with a great big dates planner. We’ve put in all the existing teaching bookings, and there are not many […]

a little something I’m working on

One afternoon a couple of months ago, I was sitting in traffic in the car, listening to the radio. For some reason I suddenly had a flash of brilliance: why not make my stitch dictionaries into apps for smartphones?

I don’t even know that they were talking about apps on the radio. I don’t think […]

I’m back!

I had a WONDERFUL time in Adelaide at Beating Around the Bush. Enjoyed the class, and market day, and loved hearing Jenny Adin-Christie last night at the gala dinner.

I really enjoyed spending time with the other tutors, socialising and talking shop. I was just a little overawed to meet some of the international […]

Easter break

I had a lovely Easter, away with members of my extended family, at a conference. I was on the tech team, learning new skills such as how to operate a semi-professional video camera. Not something I ever expected to learn to do, but when you’re rostered on to do that, its sink or swim. I […]

Back from Maitland

I’m back from Maitland and had a wonderful time! The two classes that I ran on Portuguese Whitework went really well, and I’m pretty sure the students enjoyed them greatly.

I have never met a group of more attentive hosts. They were so welcoming and so accommodating of my needs. Many took part in organising […]

Maitland visit

Tomorrow and Wednesday I will have the pleasure of being with the Maitland Embroiderers, teaching a couple of workshops. I spent a couple of days with them last year doing Mountmellick embroidery, and it was a wonderful time. From memory I had one of my Portuguese whitework projects with me, as my current project, and […]

Needlework cruise

Yesterday I received a whole pile of brochures for the needlework cruise that I’ll be teaching on in February next year. As I’ve never been on a cruise before, it was a bit of an eye opener to realise the strange and unusual activities that will be available to me when I am not teaching.

[…]
