38 count linen – evenweave or not? Part 1

At the end of last week I received two emails about whether the 38 count (also known as 20L) linens which are on the market are evenweave or not.

Let’s start with a definition of evenweave: Evenweave linen means that over the same direction across both the weft and warp of the fabric there are […]

Sewline wash out/erasable fabric pencils

I’ve just added a new product to the Vetty Creations website: Sewline fabric pencils.

This fabric marking pencil is much better for marking fabric than a normal HB pencil and a fabric marker pen (texta). Why? It has ceramic lead that is designed to be easily removable from fabric. It washes out easily and rubs […]

an enjoyable Portuguese Whitework class

Yesterday I had a lovely day at Lyn’s Fine Needlework at Baulkham Hills, here in Sydney. There were 10 students for a Portuguese Whitework class. This class came about during the craft show back in June. Jeanette, the owner of Lyn’s Fine Needlework, had come over to have a chat with me, and we decided […]

Portuguese Whitework demonstration

On Saturday I was at the Embroiderers’ Guild of NSW exhibition to do a demonstration of Portuguese Whitework. All of the guild tutors had been offered the chance to do either a talk or a demonstration, and each day of the exhibition there were about 4 tutor presentations. As it turned out, I believe I […]

upcoming classes

Most of the classes will be this project from my book "Portuguese Whitework: Bullion Embroidery from Guimarães"

Class bookings have gone quite crazy here. Hardly a week goes by when I don’t have a new class enquiry. I’m now booked well into 2013, so soon I will have to stop taking any further bookings […]

Teaching in 2012-2013

Just a word of warning: if your group or shop is looking at booking me for a class before the end of 2013, you’d better get in quick. My husband has very kindly organised me today with a great big dates planner. We’ve put in all the existing teaching bookings, and there are not many […]

Italian review of Portuguese Whitework

For those of you who are conversant in Italian, there is a new review of my book available at Tutto Ricamo.

An excerpt (not a great translation, but it gives you an idea, at least!): “Even a beginner, following the excellent instructions, can make virtually all the projects in this book!”

Thanks to Tutto Ricamo […]

New 38 count linen

If you’ve been eyeing off the 38 count linen that I supply, you’ll have a pleasant surprise today. Possibly the first thing you’ll notice is that the price has dropped! This is because the linen is a new product – just as lovely – but with a lower price.

Graziano discontinued their Nuovo Ricamo linen […]
