Welcome to the Mountmellick embroidery stitch along! Even if you have decided not to stitch along with us, I’m glad that you’re following along. I welcome all questions. Just because I understand my reasoning for doing certain things doesn’t mean that you do! So please ask questions and make comments. The first thing we need [...] In preparation for our Mountmellick embroidery stitch along, starting in about a week, I thought I might direct you back to an old post on Mountmellick thread. Mountmellick thread IS different to work with compared to other thread, and the post explains a bit about it. [...] Just a reminder that we will be starting the Mountmellick embroidery stitch along in about 10 days time, on 20th July. If you haven’t already got your supplies or your pattern to join us, you’ll need to do it as soon as possible. If you don’t get yours in time to start with us [...] A little while ago, Angelina from Ireland commented on one of the posts on this blog. She told us that she and the ICA group that she is part of, are currently learning Mountmellick embroidery in Ireland. I was so interested that I asked her to share some more with me and all you lovely [...] So, what was popular at the Vetty Creations stand at the Sydney Craft and Quilt Show last week? I’ve already mentioned how “hot” Mountmellick embroidery was, with so many people stopping to admire the display and ask what type of embroidery it was. A common refrain was, “is that candlewicking?”
Mountmellick embroidery wildflower cushion [...] I’ve have been so flat out getting everything ready for The Show that I haven’t had the chance to do anything but glance at the Mountmellick stitch along project when I walk past it. Therefore I don’t think we can count on it starting *right* at the beginning of July… I need to get the [...] This year, the Queensland Country Womens Association (QCWA) has the Republic of Ireland as their country of focus. To celebrate this, and to help them learn more about the country, they do a soft-craft and a hard-craft. I don’t know what they have been doing as their hard-craft, but their soft-craft has been Mountmellick embroidery [...] Well, I have come up with a design for our Mountmellick embroidery stitch along. It is lilies – I’m in a lilies frame of mind at the moment! I just think lilies can be quite exquisite, and they provide a nice amount of scope for embroidering both petals and leaves. I know its rather obscured [...] Well, it seems like my Mountmellick stitch along idea is a good one, because I’ve had a very good response! Ok, now I just need to figure out how to fit it into my life… Over the next few weeks, I’ll be spending most of my time getting ready for the Sydney Quilt and Craft [...] I’ve been wondering about doing a Mountmellick embroidery stitch along. If we were to do a project exploring the thread, fabric, and stitches of Mountmellick embroidery, would anyone be interested in joining in?
