Today will be a busy day photographing needlework and either sending the photos off, or sending the needlework off. All the projects are for upcoming classes, some soon and some more than a year away! Some of the photos will need to be styled shots, some not. Some will be closeups of detail, to go [...] This is the last week of the school holidays here, and its going to be hot. It will be filled for us with last minute things to get done before school starts: dentist’s appointments, doctor’s appointments, and maybe a trip to the beach as my daughters really wanted to go some time during the holidays [...] I spent yesterday working on my current Mountmellick design which is to be submitted as a class proposal for Beating Around the Bush in 2012. I’m having fun! The design is more lilies (we did a lilies design for our Mountmellick stitch along last year) but this time I am using a combination of some [...] I had a wonderful day yesterday teaching merezhka to a lovely group of ladies in Springwood. They did a great job and produced some beautiful embroidery. A couple of the ladies in the group had already bought my book Ukrainian Drawn Thread Embroidery and worked the large scale sampler (we were doing a project of [...] Yesterday my eldest daughter and I went on a fabric jaunt. We first took the train to Central and went to The Fabric Store in Surry Hills. This is a wonderful shop that has a wonderful range of fabrics, many of which are sourced from designers. Its not unusual to see “from Leona Edmiston” or [...] I’ll be teaching embroidery at various places around Australia in 2011. I’m really looking forward to it all, as I’ll be teaching new projects and in some new places. I’ll also go back to some places I’ve been before, and hopefully meet some students again. I received word yesterday that my merezhka class at Springwood [...] Firstly, today I want to say a heartfelt thank you to those lovely people who emailed me yesterday or posted a comment to encourage me. I really appreciate the time you took to write to me explaining why what I do has made a difference to your life. It does put things into perspective. Yesterday [...] Tonight we were reading back through the notebooks we wrote in when our kids were very little; the silly things they said and did, and their latest achievements. We were actually trying to find out when they crawled and walked, for a medical questionnaire. Do you think we recorded that anywhere? Nope! One of the [...] With a lot of experimentation, I have now finished and uploaded my video for how to knit the Mountmellick embroidery fringe.
