embroidery hoop love

Yesterday I finally got my gorgeous new embroidery hoops with stands up on my website. I wanted to really illustrate how versatile and useful they really are, so I took a series of photos ilustrating the different things that make them just a delight to work with.

NB: embroidery and hoop binding NOT included with [...]

New-to-me thread

One of the delightful things about teaching at All Threads Embroidery in Brisbane is the fact that Kerryn has such an amazing range of products. In my humble opinion, her range is by far better than any needlework shop in Sydney. She had a few threads that I had never heard of before, including Cosmo [...]

Lumidomes now available

Vetty Creations are now stocking Lumidome acrylic ball magnifiers.

Just place the Lumidome (inset) on the surface to be magnified (top picture). The surface is automatically magnified to 3 times its original size.

The ambient light is focused onto the surface, also making it brighter (bottom picture).

Its so simple, yet so effective. There’s nothing [...]

Newly released Merezhka daisies cloth pattern

I know that there are some of you who have really wanted me to produce some new Merezhka designs. In an effort to keep you happy, I’ve been through some of my teaching projects to see what there is that can be released for general sale.

Left-handed book in Canada

A few weeks ago I received an email from a lady in Canada who wanted a copy of The Left-Handed Embroiderer’s Companion. A friend of hers was coming to Sydney on a visit, and had agreed to purchase her a copy while here and take it home to her. The lady wanted to know where [...]

Liking Vetty Creations

I’ve been spending some time over the last few days adding “like” buttons to my website (you can see one at the bottom of this post). I haven’t done all the pages yet, because it takes time, but I’m getting there! These buttons mean that you can “like” various pages of the Vetty Creations website [...]

kelly fletcher

I’ve been busy doing my tax over the last few days, so I have nothing particularly interesting to tell you about what’s been happening here.

Therefore, today I’d like to point you to the blog (Materialistic) and website of Kelly Fletcher. Kelly is a UK based embroidery designer. She comes from a graphic design and [...]

felt fun!

When I was little my sister and I loved borrowing Ondori books from our local library, which had felt toys and dolls to make. We made quite a few. You can tell the books made quite an impression on me, because how many other craft books do I remember the publisher of, from when I [...]

Couldn’t wait to show you all

Here is the completed embroidery that I have been working on over the last few days. I know that I said that I wasn’t going to show you yet, but I couldn’t wait!

Isn’t it gorgeous? (Not commenting on my stitching here, rather the actual style!) It is Portuguese whitework embroidery.

When I first saw [...]

The Big List of Needlework Magazines

Following on from yesterday, I’ve put together a new page called The Big List of Needlework Magazines. Thanks to those who contributed already. I’d love to have more suggestions and submissions. I’ve already learnt of a great magazine that I’d never heard of before, and I am sure that there are many more that I [...]
