Medical stitching technique

ALERT: If you are squeamish, you may like to skip this post!

Yesterday, unfortunately I had cause to observe someone else’s stitching technique. While The Reader and I were off at our pattern-drafting class, The Husband and The Gymnast were enjoying the sunshine at a local park. The Gymnast came off her bike, split her […]

new Elizabethan embroidery

I started work yesterday on a new Elizabethan embroidery, which I had designed while holed up in the house on Tuesday. The project is for a class proposal.

My first step was to go a few suburbs to the local embroidery shop which stocks Au Ver a Soie threads. I arrived and found the […]

Inspirations scissor fob – part 2

Today I received my copy of Inspirations 76. It is a lovely magazine, as always. Deborah’s Mountmellick tablecloth is simply gorgeous!

In the project I have in the magazine – a Portuguese whitework scissor fob called “Squared Away” – I did discover one or two things that I felt were unclear in the diagrams, so […]

Class listings updated

I spent much of yesterday updating the class page on my website. It is fully updated now, with all the details that I have so far. There is a visual listing of all the projects, so you can see all the photos together, and a calendar listing so that you can see what will be […]

forget-me-nots and daisies

I spent the day working on a new Mountmellick project yesterday in preparation for a class next year. I had such a lovely time sitting there stitching away all day. It is to be a cushion, and the plants on it are forget-me-nots and daisies. Very pretty, dainty flowers!

I tried out some new stitch […]

Schwalm weekend

Over the weekend we continued with removing the paint from the brickwork at the front of our house. It was slow work, and it is looking very different. We’ll get there some day!

In my down time, I got stuck into doing some more work on Luzine Happel’s left-handed Schwalm project. And I must day […]

working on the new book

A few of my readers who I met at the craft show mentioned how much they enjoyed reading about the process of writing my Portuguese Whitework book. I’m glad they found it interesting!

Well, the new book has been decided upon! The craft show really helped me to crystallise one of my possible book ideas […]

more coral knotting

I devoted a bit of time yesterday morning to doing some more on Luzine’s left-handed Schwalm. When I had started, I had automatically mounted the fabric into my embroidery hoop. But I was finding the coral knot stitch hard going with the fabric provided, in the hoop.

When I do coral knot stitch in Mountmellick […]
