About Yvette Stanton
Yvette Stanton is a respected needlework teacher and author of needlework books. She particularly loves whitework and playing with embroidery stitches. Sardinian Knotted Embroidery will be Yvette's seventh book, and fifth on whitework embroidery.
Yvette was first shown Punt 'e Nù by a friend in 2010, though it was several years later that she came back to it again with renewed interest. She travelled to Teulada, Sardinia, and enjoyed the generous hospitality of the members of the local cultural association Associazione Culturale Is Sinnus, Teulada who were eager to share their precious embroidery with her.
Combined with knowledge gained from other sources, Yvette was able to learn how to work the embroidery and thoroughly enjoyed making the projects for the book. As with all her other books, it was important to Yvette to ensure that she was working the embroidery correctly (and therefore would teach it correctly), and that her designs using traditional motifs did not depart from the accepted style. Members of the association were very kind to check the work before it went to publication.

"The reasons I love your book:
- You bring a new cultural experience to the rest of us. Your sharing of the techniques and patterns helps me appreciate the region and encourages me to learn more about the people.
- I very much like the organization of the book. After some history, you start with the projects first and not with the how-to instructions. This encouraged my participation sooner rather than later. When the instructions are listed first, sometimes I feel like I must practice first. The organization of the book encouraged me to jump right in to the first beginner project.
- With each project, you indicate what needs to be done and the corresponding page number showing how to do it. Can I mention how helpful this is to a beginner!
- Your instructions are very clear as are your photographs. As a visual learner, it has made the learning process easier.
With half of the first project done, I feel very motivated to continue with other projects or to create my own in the future. Thanks Yvette!" — Robert
